There’s this intense scene where Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel, the Jesus from Passion of the Christ) watches a piece of child porn for his job at the Department of Homeland Security. You only see his face, close up, and a tear forming in his eye and slowly rolling down his cheek.
It was probably then that his determination was born—and later, no doubt, cemented and turned into action by the Holy Spirit—to rescue those kids, some of them little more than babies. Kidnapped, sold as sex slaves, raped five to 10 times a day, for years.
“…but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6)
Sound of Freedom doesn’t graphically show any of the horrors those kids go through… but it also doesn’t leave any doubt.
I teared up right at the beginning of the movie where a loving but poor widowed father in Honduras brings his four-and-a-half-year-old son Miguel and his 11-year-old daughter Rocio to a photo shoot by a supposed model agency after they have been “discovered” by an elegant, very persuasive female “talent agent.”
He’s told, “No stage parents allowed” and to come back a few hours later to pick up the kids. When he returns, he finds an empty room; everyone’s gone, including the children.
Apparently, this is a common scenario: Children being lured in, children grabbed right off the street, children in war-torn countries or disaster areas scooped up, never to be seen again.
Rather than making generic statements about the evil of child sex slavery, the film stays with those two children, Miguel and Rocio, who at some point are separated and later reunited with their father… thanks to Tim Ballard and his team at Operation Underground Railroad, the real-life organization the movie is based on.
And you see the harrowing journey of this former law enforcement officer who quit his DHS job to dive into the pits of darkness in places like Honduras, Colombia, Haiti, Mexico, and yes, the United States. It’s hard to watch at times, yes, but he’s freeing dozens of kids throughout the movie, so there’s always reason to cheer.
The best part is that this is not a preachy, boring, social-justice-type movie: The plot is tight and perfectly played out, and the acting is top notch. There’s no virtual signaling here—but tons of drama, action, and suspense, in the very best Hollywood style. You can tell that the director, producers, and actors were giving their all.
Here’s the trailer:
Fun Fact: The movie was actually made in 2018 and sold to Disney, which immediately shelved it so it couldn’t be released. Ask yourself why.
And unlike recent Hollywood movies that hit you over the head with their woke messaging (and that, deservedly, have been bombing at the box office), Sound of Freedom keeps it raw and real.
If you stay till the very end of the movie, you learn that 2 million children per year are being trafficked as sex slaves for elite pedophile rings and the child porn industry—and that the US is the largest consumer of child pornography.
It’s sickening and beyond disgusting.

Pedophilia and sexual exploitation of children reach up to the highest echelons of our society… and there are many very rich and very powerful people who'd rather not draw attention to this $150 billion global “industry.”
And there’s a big push to normalize this filth.
Why do you think elementary school children are now being taught about gay, “queer,” and trans issues and encouraged to reflect on their “sexual preferences” in class?
Why do you think the term “pedophile” is increasingly replaced with the euphemistic “MAP” (minor-attracted person)?
Why do you think there’s a move to add “MAPs” to the LGBTQ+ spectrum, thereby making them a victimized, oppressed minority?
The rabbit hole goes very deep.
But just as these satanic forces were about to kill the movie, Jesus said, “I don’t think so.”
Against all odds, God’s superheroes swooped in to the rescue:
Angel Studios (which also is behind the entirely crowd-funded show, The Chosen) helped get Sound of Freedom out into the open.
Motivational super-star Tony Robbins was instrumental in financing and promoting the film, as was The Blaze co-founder Glenn Beck.
Tech giant Elon Musk has offered to stream the movie on Twitter and forgo any of the proceeds.
And so we’re witnessing a miracle, brought on by fortitude and faith and the fierce determination of all involved. God, as always, is winning in the end, and it’s beautiful to watch.

During its opening week, Sound of Freedom, with its measly $15 million budget, beat the $294.7 million behemoth Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, by a mile.
Even though the Indiana Jones movie plays in 4,600 theaters nationwide and Sound of Freedom only in 2,600, the latter has easily outsold Indy. FOX reports that Sound of Freedom made $14 million on its first day—nearly making all of its budget back—and is the top-grossing movie of the July 4th weekend.
And the miracle is not finished: Now we’re seeing the incredible power of true conviction. Those who have seen the movie want it to do well… and they’re putting considerable effort into making that happen.
Word-of-mouth about the movie is spreading. #SoundOfFreedom is trending on Twitter. Audiences gave it an A+ Cinemascore and a 100% score on movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes. Bloggers and podcasters are giving raving reviews.

The company even provides a “Pay It Forward” link on its website so someone poorer than you can go see it.
And don’t forget the real-life heroes behind the movie: The team at Operation Underground Railroad, who, by the way, don’t just rescue those poor children from sex slavery… they also provide aftercare for the traumatized little ones, sometimes for years, and make sure they’re either united with their parents or if that’s not possible, find good homes. Check out the website and donate if you can—even $10 a month will help rescue many more children.
