I’ve recently seen a lot of interest in this, people wanting to learn how to pray or chant the Liturgy of the Hours (LOTH), the official prayer of the Catholic Church around the world.
The LOTH is prayed by every priest, nun, monk, sister, friar, and many devout laypeople in every country several times a day. Due to the different time zones, there’s basically not ONE minute in the day where someone, somewhere on the planet doesn’t pray the LOTH.
When you join in, you’re joining a giant global community of faithful Catholics who with their prayers ensure that God is praised and worshipped constantly, without ceasing. It feels to me like we’re weaving a net of prayers that spans the entire globe.
What a grace to be part of this!
I’m very blessed to have a morning group of people at our parish chanting the LOTH together who taught me the ropes (special thanks to Jack). Unfortunately, not everyone has such awesome tutors. So I figured I’d start giving you some pointers on how to do this… hence my first YouTube video. First up is the LOTH psalm that starts every Morning Prayer.
The video is not perfect and very low-tech, so be gentle with me. In any case, I hope it’ll help you get started. I’ll add more tutorials as I have time (yes, this is incredibly time consuming). In the meantime, please share the video.
God bless you!
Thank you so much for doing this. I wish we had a group doing this, I think I will talk to our priest about it. Just wanted to say you have been a source of inspiration for me, I also am a convert who came out of some occultic junk. God bless you. I follow you on twitter also, I'm @jaymetheaspie
