I’ve been looking forward to the month of June because for me, June is VatiGod month (and Sacred Heart of Jesus month!).
Sunday, June 18, is Father’s Day, but a few years ago, after my “real conversion,” I started giving little gifts to VatiGod every day, beginning June 1 and running up to Father’s Day.
It’s a lot of fun and He LOVES it.
Little gift ideas for every day:
Write Him a greeting card and tell Him how much you love Him and appreciate everything he’s done/doing for you. Seal the envelope and keep it in a drawer.
Put some fresh flowers on your home altar.
Paint or draw the Sacred Heart of Jesus, either on paper, canvas, or even a craft item. Two years ago, I painted a candle holder made from a yogurt glass jar and for the “Big Day,” I gave VatiGod a Sacred Heart painted Adirondack chair.
Say an extra prayer of your choice or the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Start a Sacred Heart Novena on June 8, ending on June 16, which is the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Take walks in nature and loudly praise VatiGod for the incredible beauty He has created.
Invent a song in His honor and sing it every morning in the shower. I often use the melodies of my favorite songs and rewrite the lyrics.
Talk to Him during the day like He’s your best friend. Ask Him His opinion, even about trivial things.
Get a Holy Trinity crucifix and hang it in a prominent place.
Do the Morning and Evening prayers of the Liturgy of the Hours. Bonus points if you chant them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to send you opportunities for random acts of kindness, and when they present themselves, act without second-guessing yourself.
Make a resolution to do all things to the glory of God. Yes, we’re all flawed and you’ll fail sometimes, but do the best you can.
Write a poem to VatiGod. It can be something small, like this haiku I wrote several years ago.
The possibilities are endless. What gift(s) are you going to give VatiGod or Jesus? Let me know in the comments section!
