Some Hard Truths from the Bible

Why Christian "Islamophobia" is really not a thing... Who are those "little ones" Jesus flings millstones for?... Should Christians practice "tolerance"? And does forgiveness require repentance?

Why There Is No Such Thing as Christian “Islamophobia”

The woke crowd and certain special-interest groups like to cry that Christians are “Islamophobic.” They say we are prejudiced against Islam, a “religion of peace.” They say “Muslims are our brothers.” Well, yes, insofar that all human beings are our brothers and sisters, and I don’t doubt that some Muslims are wonderful, warm, and caring people. But I would also submit that the religion of Islam as such is not wonderful, warm, and caring toward unbelievers, also called “infidels.” In fear, it clearly calls for the conversion or, if that’s not possible, eradication of those infidels.

Here are some verses from the Quran:

  • Surah 2:191: “And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. But do not fight them at al-Masjid al-Haram unless they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.”

  • Surah 3:151: “We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved for what they have associated with Allah of which He had not sent down any authority. And their refuge will be the Fire, and wretched is the residence of the wrongdoers.”

  • Surah 9:5: “And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them go on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”

Some Muslims and Islamophiles claim that those are very specific verses that need to be viewed in a historical context. However, there are plenty of modern Imams (religious teachers) who emphasize to the faithful the need for forceful conversion, or else.

By definition, a phobia is an irrational fear of some real object. Arachnophobia is an irrational fear of spiders. Arachnophobes can’t even be in the same room with a spider, even if it were under glass or dead. Even a movie about spiders could send them into a tailspin.

That’s not what Christians’ fear of Islam is. For many, it’s a very real fear that they may get physically harmed. Far fetched? Tell that to the Christian pastors, Catholic priests, and often parishioners in Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan, Libya, Eritrea, and elsewhere who are persecuted and yes, killed, for their faith. By Muslims.

Even in Western countries like Britain, France, Germany, and others, Muslim violence is on the rise. In Sweden, a historically peaceful country, 2024 saw 317 terrorist bombings or bombing attempts. The German city of Bielefeld saw a mass stabbing just last week, where a Syrian Muslim man attacked five men outside a bar.

Why am I telling you all this? Because it so happens that today’s Gospel reading is a prophetic uttering by Jesus Christ about the future fate of Christians:

Jesus said to his disciples, “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

“I have told you this so that you may not fall away. They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming where everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God. They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me. I have told you this so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you.”

(John 15:26–16:4)

God bless you, and pray for the conversion of our Muslim brothers and sisters!
