Just like last year, the Super Bowl commercial 2024, “Jesus—He Gets Us,” sparked a huge backlash from conservative Christians. This time, the message was, “Jesus didn’t teach hate. He washed feet.”
As you may notice, we’re elbow-deep in the Marxist “Oppressors vs. oppressed” narrative here. The police officer washes the feet of the black man, the priest washes the feet of the trans person, the conservative girl washes the feet of the woke girl—not the other way around. Never the other way around.
Rather than diving into another rant on the topic (you can check out last year’s here), I’d like to show you a couple of very well-done and/or hilarious counter-videos.
Here’s the first one, which—unlike the original—brought me to tears, titled “He Saves Us”:
Amen, amen. Because Jesus doesn’t just “get us.” He is coming for us so we can be saved from our sin. For that to happen, though, there needs to be repentance; there needs to be a complete transformation. We must die to our old selves so we can rise in Him.
Of course, the inimitable Babylon Bee also had something to say about the matter. Here’s “Satan—He Gets Us”:
Because Jesus isn’t the one who tells you that you’re just fine the way you are. He will look at you with sorrow and pity and love. He will reach out for you as you’re drowning, so you can grab his hand and He can pull you up to safety.
Satan, on the other hand, will “affirm” you in anything and everything you do. He not only loves you in your sin, he loves your sin. Because it’ll make you join him in the pit forever and ever. And make no mistake: There’s no party in Hell. You will rot and burn and be tortured for eternity.
As that Irish protest sign said that I love so much:
Worried about dying? Don’t be. You’ll live forever. The only thing to worry about is LOCATION.
Choose wisely. Use this Lenten season to repent and make amends. Throw yourself at the foot of the cross. Change your life. And find the joy you’ve been looking for.
God bless you!
P.S. If you feel generous, consider upgrading to a paid subscription to support me with a few bucks a month. I’d really appreciate it. If you got this in your inbox, you can simply click the “Upgrade to Paid” button at the bottom of the email. Right now, I’m getting ready to turn Diary of a Stumbling Saint into a book, so the more time I can devote to that, the sooner it’ll be published. My paid subscribers will get an early sneak peek at the book cover and other inner-circle goodies. Thanks in advance!
I'm truly grateful for God guiding me to find your blog! Very enlightening stuff...we are miles apart and yet I connect deeply with your writing...demonstrating how we should watch and pray in these times. God bless you too Shannara!
