GOOD FRIDAY episode. This one is so important and powerful, I urge you to listen to it. If you ever wondered why Jesus uttered those words of despair on the Cross (“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”), you will get the answer here… and it will make you appreciate his sacrifice for us even more.
I also found this stunningly beautiful post by YouTuber “That Black Catholic Chick” (highly recommended channel!) that I just have to share:

We cannot celebrate the resurrection of Christ without acknowledging the weight and heaviness of His brutal death. People often ask why Catholics have the Body of Christ displayed on the cross. That we should only be looking to the fact that the cross is bare.
But you see, that's the thing...
We aren't afraid to sit at the foot of the cross like His mother, Mary, and faithful disciple John, and witness what our sins did to Him and the incredible suffering he had to endure to set us free. To turn a blind eye to that is to deny that our sins are what put Him to death.
That when we don't live our lives IN Him truly and fully, when we turn our backs on Him and deny He is Lord, when we choose to live our lives in feigned salvation... We put Him there time and again.
It is ALSO a reminder that when you live in HIM...
You too will bear a cross.
You too will be crucified by the world. Shunned by family and friends who like the worldly version of you. Mocked for your beliefs.
You will also stumble to live a meaningful and fruitful life as you wrestle with sin - which is NORMAL. We are human.
To acknowledge we are all on that Cross with Him, that is what Good Friday is about.
In the Catholic Church, traditionally that is what EVERY Friday is about (abstinence, prayer, and fasting every week throughout the year on Fridays - fish only, no meat). A deeper call to private reverence of this GREATEST sacrifice.
To mourn what we did to our Lord and what we continue to do when we shun His commands for our lives.
It is in this acknowledgement that we can appreciate EVEN GREATER what is about to happen this Sunday... And every Sunday throughout the year.
Sin slaughtered our Lord.
But just like He promised, and just like the prophets of old told us...
He
Will
Rise
TRIUMPHANTLY
Have a blessed Good Friday.
