Incredible. I cannot believe how fast and thorough the evil one works to keep his claws hooked in me.
The other day, I watched a video with Doreen Virtue, who used to be a famous New Age author and “angel communicator.” These days, she’s a born-again Christian and spends her time and energy warning people of the dangers of the New Age and the occult.
In this video, she lists a ton of occult items that you might have in your house and need to get rid of, from Tarot cards to Celtic jewelry. I thought I’d tossed everything years ago but realized, no, there are still leftovers in my home that I didn’t even consider:
The beautiful bathroom mirror I bought at a “Treasures of the East” kind of store; its painted frame has lotus flowers on it, which have great significance in Hinduism and Buddhism.
A formerly favorite piece of jewelry, a donut crystal in a fairy-shaped silver encasing. I don’t wear it anymore but couldn’t bring myself to throw it away either.
Two “goddess” type paintings I used to love very much, one of them depicting a wise pagan storyteller I always identified with.
Some CDs by a Scottish friend I met in Sedona whose music was very much influenced by his druidic upbringing.
And finally, drafts for New Age books on my hard drive and in my iCloud space that I sentimentally hung onto.
I decided it was finally time to sweep my house and hard drive clean of all New Age remnants. Today was going to be the day.
Lo and behold, this morning, I get an Airbnb request from a woman who offered me a full night’s pay if I would rent out my guest room to her for 1–2 hours for a photo/video shoot. The topic: pranic healing—which is a Hindu/yoga practice and falls very much into the occult category. She said she would be conducting a pranic healing session in the room while her crew would be filming.
Umm… no thanks?!
I sure could have used the money, but it was instantly clear to me that this was a last-ditch attempt by the enemy to keep me hooked and that I needed to turn down this Airbnb request. If I’d said yes, I would have kicked the devil out by the front door and let him back in by the rear door.
I already had to spend an inordinate amount of time cleansing my home after I moved in… which was neither an easy nor a pleasant thing to do.
Aside from demonic attachments that I myself may have brought into the house, there was clearly something here when I moved in. I’d sometimes stand in the kitchen downstairs at night and hear the floorboards in the upstairs bedroom creaking as if someone was wandering around up there. Other times, I’d feel a heaviness or have horrible nightmares of being chased by vampires or demons.
If you’re a New Ager, you know exactly what I’m talking about because you are familiar with the constant fear (especially at night) and the spiritual attacks you have to fend off from time to time. It’s a lie what they’ve told you, that this is par for the course, and that you have to deal with the bad spirits if you want access to the good ones.
Let me tell you a secret: There are no good spirits besides angels, and angels don’t talk to people. What you think are ascended masters or benevolent aliens are in fact evil entities who are playing you, and you’re falling for it. What you have done is, you’ve opened the doors to the demonic realm, and that cone of white light and the smudging with sage are not going to save you.
Especially if you feel you and your family are suffering from a prolonged “streak of bad luck”… if all your well-laid-out plans fail… if you never seem to get anywhere financially… if cars, appliances, stuff in your home break, leak, or stop working all the time… if every time you think you finally caught a break, things just get worse…
…there’s a good chance you’re suffering from demonic oppression (about 25% of the American population does, according to Fr. Chad Ripperger and his fellow exorcists’ estimates).
Here’s the most effective and fool-proof method to turn your home and life into a place of peace and holiness and break any kind of demonic oppression:
1. Consecrate everything you own to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
That’s right. Pray the following prayer from Fr. Chad Ripperger’s book, Deliverance Prayers for the Use of the Laity (highly recommended!) as you walk around your house. You can sprinkle holy water as you intone the prayer.
I, (your name), a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before.
In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee, O Mary, this day for my Mother and Mistress. Knowing that I have received rights over all my exterior goods by the promulgation of the Natural Law by the Divine Author, I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, all of my exterior goods, past, present, and future.
I relinquish into thy hands, my Heavenly Mother, all rights over my exterior goods, including my health, finances, relationships, possessions, property, my job, and my earthly success (add any exterior good being oppressed), and I retain for myself no right of disposing the goods that come to me but leave to thee the entire and full right of disposing of all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.
As I now interiorly relinquish what belongs to me exteriorly into thy hands, I entrust to thee the protection of those exterior goods against the evil one, so that, knowing that they now belong to thee, he cannot touch them.
Receive, O good and pious Virgin, this little offering of what little is, in honor of, and in union with, that subjection which the Eternal Wisdom deigned to have to thy maternity: in homage to the power which both of you have over this poor sinner, and in thanksgiving for the privileges with which the Holy Trinity has favored thee.
Trusting in the providential care of God the Father and thy maternal care, I have full confidence that thou wilt take care of me as to the necessities of this life and will not leave me forsaken. God the Father, increase my trust in Thy Son’s Mother: Our Lady of Fair Love, give me perfect confidence in the providence of thy Son. Amen.
If this makes you cringe, I get it. It seems like an awfully big leap of faith to simply hand all you are and all you have to the Blessed Mother, especially if you have a Protestant (“Mary is nothing special”) mindset. I trust, though, that if you get desperate enough, you will try this prayer. Prepare to be amazed—and please, don’t forget to show her your gratitude.
After this, you’ll have to make sure that things remain stable. So get rid of all occult items, as you can see in Doreen Virtue’s video I linked above, and…
2. Start praying the Rosary every day.
3. Consecrate yourself and your family to the Holy Mother.
I’d use either St. Louis de Montfort’s book, Preparation for Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary, or Fr. Michael Gaitley’s book, 33 Days to Morning Glory. I also like the somewhat more feminine 46-day Mary’s Mantle Consecration by Christine Watkins, which gives you a reading about each of the 46 Marian virtues for every day.
You can do it for your kids if they’re unwilling, but your husband has to do his own consecration. If you’re the husband (and thus the spiritual head of the household), you can consecrate both your wife and children.
Do this and enjoy your freedom from demonic bondage.
God bless you!
P.S. If you feel generous, consider upgrading to a paid subscription to support me with a few bucks a month. I’d really appreciate it. If you got this in your inbox, you can simply click the “Upgrade to Paid” button at the bottom of the email. Right now, I’m getting ready to turn Diary of a Stumbling Saint into a book, so the more time I can devote to that, the sooner it’ll be published. My paid subscribers will get an early sneak peek at the book cover and other inner-circle goodies. Thanks in advance!
When you spoke of the clingers I remembered this video by Father Mark…. Talks about a famous painting of clingers :)

Hi Ms. Shannara!
Watching the video now, but this lady has a Protestant mindset of not praying to Mary or the saints or angels. We are encouraged to have a relationship with our guardian angels, the rosary is a beautiful prayer to our heavenly mother, and the saints are our friends in heaven. She may be born again Christian but she needs to be born again Catholic, not be a generic Christian like the Protestants.
